Earlier, Sattar had been invited to attend the meeting. In a press conference on Tuesday, MQM Rabita committee member Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui showed the official invite sent to Sattar.
MQM representatives said that the government has made this decision under pressure.
Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad, Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Chief secretary Muhammad Ijaz Chaudhry and the heads of intelligence agencies have been invited to attend the meeting on Wednesday.
An MQM representative said that despite their reservations about the decision to rescind Sattar’s invite from the cabinet meeting, the MQM will attend the meeting at the Governor house to be held at 3pm today.
He added that this move by the government is counterproductive in their aim to bring peace and stability in Karachi.
However – in protest - the party has decided not to take part in the one-on-one meeting between Sattar and Nawaz.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in Karachi earlier today and plans to stay in the city for two days.
Security in the city was put on high alert to prepare for his arrival.
PTI, PML-F
Pakistan Muslim League – Functional (PML-F) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have decided not to attend the meeting at the Governor House today.
Both the parties' representatives said they were not officially invited to attend the meeting.

@True Karachiwala: @Saleem: It baffles me how MQM changes its stance to suit their needs. There is nothing anyone can do to satisfy MQM unless they toe its line.
"Do not get baffled, just read constitution."
Of course we eat drink and sleep Constittion 24/7/365 in Ziai and Musharaffi traditions. Let's make Mr. Afaaq Ahmed the governor and see what happens to our beloved good old Constitution!
@mrs ahmed: "This is the problem in pakistan loyalty , honesty and integrity is frowned upon."
Loyalty, honesty and integrity emigrated from Pakistan in early 1990s, now live in London and are naturalized UK citizens. You can still hear from them on phone from time to time!
@Kaleem: I think you do not live in Karachi or you do not have relevant information on prevalent sitaution in Karachi.
@Saleem: It baffles me how MQM changes its stance to suit their needs. There is nothing anyone can do to satisfy MQM unless they toe its line.

@Hater: Responsibility comes only with authority. People with rural mandate have complete and unshared power. MQM in the Mustafa Kamal administration did a job recognized by all. Can u be a hater but hate a bit less
@Clear Objective: instead of appreciating ppl who are staunch supporter of one party and not like siasi ppl who keep changing political affiliations , what a lame comment. Perseverence and belief system and ideolgy which makes ppl support one cause for a long time inspite of huge opposition. This is the problem in pakistan loyalty , honesty and integrity is frowned upon.
@Saleem: "Over last twelve years, Ishratul Ibaad is Sindh governor because he belongs to MQM. Now all of sudden MQM claims that he represent Federation and not them. It baffles me how MQM changes its stance to suit their needs."
It is called "Hunt with hounds and run with hares." It is in perfect harmony with MQM's political philosophy of "Realism."
@Ozair: "Can someone explain to me why are they saying MQM will not be attending even though Ishratul Ibaad is attending this meeting ?"
It is a cosmic mystery which no mortal can understand!
@Aysha M: So if you say that MQM is winning the public mandate since the last three decades, then you must also admit that the current situation of Karachi is because of MQM then, huh?
@mrs ahmed: I'd honestly request you to please stop your false propaganda. Everyone now is well aware of the facts. Changing my name won't change the reality of the party you support
@Irshad Khan: even the ex COAS and president is being humilated and maltreated...
Sorry to say but Karachi should not be treated like Srinagar, where they don't trust Kashmiris.
So MQM is so desperate that its using the same specific people to go and post pro-mqm comments on ET's every articles?!
The P.M. visits to Karachi is not going to solve any problems. Nawaz Sharif in his speech always giving much importance to the mandate. If P.M. and Federal Government serious and sincere and needs to get rid of this menace they should call all parties including, Army Chief, Rangers, Police Department.
The local people from Karachi not from Sindh and Punjab must be recruited in Police, Ranger and even in Traffic Police Deparment. If the Federal Government and Nawaz Sharif is interested to bring peace in Karachi they must be careful for this main issue. The targetted operation and operation against one single party will never resolve this problem. Due to biased nature of the law enforcement agencies and corruption the peace will never come to the Karachi.
The Rangers and Police will catch the small fishes during the targetted operation. Since Government has already showed their intention for target operation at Karachi in advance so all terrorists people are alert and taking their own stands how to hide themselves. Again Rangers and Police Department will catch the common people and will be taking bribe from them to release from the police stations.
The main culprits are going to take shelter in a safe place when operation will be completted they will again come out.
PML (N) is totally failure in their third regime and looking helpless in front of the people for controlling high rocketting price increase of daily essentials in the country, corruptions, heaviest and record devaluation of rupees, terrorism and to save the lives and properties of the citizens. The body language of Prime Minister is showing that this action is nothing and they are not sincere to resolve this issue. This is lip service to the nation nothing else.
@Hater: i very honestly request you to pls change ur name it will not take u anywhere with this kind of attitude , honesty compassion and justice is road to peace and progress
MQM got most of the seats from karachi and no representation?? Shame on these democratic jokers!!! The whole nation has prejudice against Karachites, shame shame shame!!
@Hater: I think moderators should encourage you to change your ID, the world doesnt need haters Whoever says that MQM mandate is an outcome of coercion has questionable analytical skills It is not just possible to rig elections for the past 3 decades. Some sensible commenting please
@mrs ahmed: Truly brilliant!
How would this work Mr. PM that you want to talk Karachi and not invite Karachi As per polls even the by-elections MQM is currently Karachi and if I may add MQM is Karachi and beyond for the last 3 decades. A serious lack of sincerity is evident, there is no real interest in solving the issues which ail Karachi
What is so objectionable about my comments, pls let me know

The party that holds the largest majority and mandate in Karachi is uninvited? That makes absolutely no sense. In reference to everyone asking why MQM is making a big deal since Governor will be present, if you aren't aware over the last couple years MQM has separated the governor from MQM in the sense that they do not want the people of Sindh to feel the Governor is just another "MQM guy". This allows those who do not like MQM to feel comfortable approaching the Governor in whatever issue they may have, and feel confident that he is not biased. This way people are able to trust and have hope in the Governor and his decisions. Otherwise it would be very easy to use their Governor to promote MQM, but they choose to not do that.
ET Please Print This!
Withdrawing the invitation is very logical; Because the permanent residents of Karachi, who are called Karachites, and own this city are also not seen any-where in the administration and law enforcing agencies of Karachi. They are treated as aliens and humiliated/maltreated whenever possible, as in this case. People who have either no stake or temporary one have been deciding fate of this region after murder of Liaquat Ali Khan and shifting country`s capital to North, far away from Balochistan and Sindh. Repurcussions and losses have never been properly analysed.
ET i requested put anti MQM bias aside for a while , not for always ,later carry on with prejudiced moderation , but atleast for the sake of peace in karachi , which is so dear to everyone in pakistan , that least developemental bugdet , lowest grant KU , all the policing from people who are born and raised outside karachi. no significant representation in the army, never a word against qouta system depriving high achievers outside good govt institution now for 40 years is of no importance to all , it is only MQM and its mendate sole point of discussion.. pls allow voice of people like me also, one never knows only few only few may look at at the arguments given by me and may thing without bias and prejudice..
@Bilal: @Tanzeel: bilal got 60 recm. and tanzeel got 47 , where as all true karachiites vote overwhelmingly for MQM , why do they not support TANZEEL who writes in favour of MQM the main mendate holder to decide what is good for karachi or ET is working hard in favour of Bilal.. and bilal wish MQM out of all decisions taken for karachi. ET for once dont side with anti MQM prejudice and bias . Use logic pls be logical who should have most say when there is high level discussion about karahi. this attitude of denying people their rights has brought us to this abyssmal state , if still MQM is not given fair share in administration of karachi , no lasting and just solution could be achieved .Reason people of karachi vote MQM to goveren them . Same logic which brought Nawaz sharif on the PM seat people have voted him .
@KJ: The by-elections speak otherwise.
@Tanzeel: A true mandate never comes from a point blank gun on your temple. Taliban enforce their rule in the frontier in the same manner.
@Bilal: I totally agree with you. Those responsible for the current situation in Karachi should not be invited in any such conferences.
@mrs ahmed: When did ET NOT PUBLISH your pro-mqm comments, eh?
Can someone imagine if PMLN will not be invited to discuss Lahore situation
@mrs ahmed: I also wrote a comment here. It didn't get printed. Anti-MQM bias at it's best.
@Tanzee: stolen mandate doesnt count ... simple. everyone know who is responsbile for this situation, although other (PPP, ANP) have contributed their part as well, buts its MQM who have started all this ..
@Tanzeel: So what did this mandate give to Karachi? Extortion and Killings?
@Ozair: Spot on bro, a catch 22 position...
@Bilal: Some analysis MQM stands to lose the most when law and order situation
The question arises that why at first place only MQM was invited to attend the meeting, as it's the only stakeholder in Karachi
Government does not want to inform MQM about the targeted operation. Otherwise, MQM will re-locate its militants. lolololzzzzzz.
@Ozair: Perhaps because he is not considered a part of MQM for propaganda purposes.
Over last twelve years, Ishratul Ibaad is Sindh governor because he belongs to MQM. Now all of sudden MQM claims that he represent Federation and not them. It baffles me how MQM changes its stance to suit their needs. There is nothing anyone can do to satisfy MQM unless they toe its line.
Don't feel sad; this is Karachi; go uninvited!
Can someone explain to me why are they saying MQM will not be attending even though Ishratul Ibaad is attending this meeting ?
@Bilal yeah, the party with the biggest mandate in the city should not be involved. It should be PMLN, PPP, ANP and PTI who should decide the future of Karachiites. Well done. Democracy at its best.
Glad to hear that, People who are responsible for this deteriorating situation in city they would definitely have no solution except using this meeting for political benefits.
