A new under-construction middle school for boys was damaged when a bomb planted by unidentified militants inside the building exploded in Dorhi Bhanda area of Hangu on Monday.
Saddar police Islam Din said a huge explosion was heard at around 4am. “Initially, we could not figure out where the explosion occurred,” said Din, adding they were later told a school in the vicinity had been blown up by militants.
Din said the impact of the explosion partially destroyed the structure. A room and veranda collapsed while cracks appeared on the walls and roof of the other two rooms, he informed, adding around five kilogrammes of explosives were used in the blast. A case was registered against unidentified culprits.
Many schools across K-P and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) have been destroyed by militants, with over a hundred destroyed in Mohmand Agency alone.
