The third person: Man beats sister-in-law to death

Victim was trying to protect her sister from husband.

A woman died after being hit allegedly by her brother-in-law while she tried tos top him from hitting his wife here on Thursday. The man’s wife was injured and taken to a hospital, where she was reported to be in critical condition. The man fled.


Police said Abid Hussain, a resident of Gulshan-e-Iqbal in Rahim Yar Khan, had married Najma Bibi a few years ago. They did not have any children. Police quoted some of their relatives as saying that Hussain often quarrelled with his wife for not having children.

Najma Bibi told police that on Thursday, they had an argument that ended in Hussain beating her up. She said when he grabbed a wrench to hit her, her sister, Anum Bibi, who was also married to Hussain’s brother, jumped to stop him.

She said he attacked her and hit her with the wrench on the head several times. He also hit Najma Bibi.

Seeing Anum Bibi fall to the ground, Hussain fled the scene.

She said she called her brother-in-law Hamid Hussain and told him about the incident.

He rushed home and took them to a hospital, where Anum Bibi was pronounced dead.

The body was sent for a post-mortem examination.

Doctors treating Najma Bibi said that she had severe head injuries. They said she had lost a lot of blood and that she was in critical condition.

A-Division police have registered a case against Abid Hussain on the complaint of his brother.

Such persons are also not punished by our great judiciary.
