SAHIWAL/SARGODHA: A case has been registered against three men for torturing their sister-in-law on orders of the district and sessions judge. Police officials have failed to arrest the accused.

According to police officials, Shaheed Tamgha Shujaat Akhtar Hussain’s widow Bushra Begum appealed to the military, civil officials and the chief justice of Pakistan to help her get justice after her husband’s brothers tortured her. Bushra Begum and her two children told the media that a local MNA and MPA were protecting the accused Nisar Ahmed, Intisar and Sajjad. She said that the men were threatening her and her family and wanted to seize her land and house. “A few days ago my husband’s brothers and dozens of their workers got a tractor and intruded on our land. By the morning our crops were ruined and when we tried to stop them they beat me with sticks and locked me up in my own house,” Bushra Begum said.

Bushra Begum said that she and her children contacted the Tarkhanwala police and reported the incident but no case was registered against the accused. Later on the family approached the court and a case was registered on orders of the district and sessions judge. The accused are still at large and have allegedly threatened to kill the widow’s children. Faroka police chowki said that the brother’s family had refused to comment on the situation, adding that a case had been registered.
