Titanic of the Muslim Ummah is sinking: Altaf Hussain

Published: June 26, 2013

"The Muslim Population is being delusioned by its leaders just as it has been delusioned before,": Altaf. PHOTO: FILE

LONDON: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain says that the “Titanic” of the Muslim Ummah is sinking and that immediate steps should be taken before “the whole ship collapses and finally sinks.”

Speaking during a telephonic address to the Rabita Committee, Hussain recalled the promises that were made to those on the Titanic and said they were similar those being made to the Pakistani population.

The bureaucrats and higher officials sitting on the upper decks of the ship had no idea about the ship sinking so much so that they were unaware of the water that had entered the lower ranks of the ship, Hussain said.

He said that when the Titanic was sinking, the higher officials on the upper parts of the ship continued to indulge in their lavish lives of eating and drinking whilst the lower parts of the ship were being destroyed. However, he said that sooner or later the upper portion was destroyed as well, killing everyone that was on board.

The MQM chief then gave an example of such misleadings when the radio in West Pakistan stated that Pakistani armed forces were victorious on all fronts against the Indian forces in East Pakistan, while in reality 93,000 Pakistani soldiers were laying down their arms to Indian forces at that time.

“I hope they don’t forget what I am saying today as merely a story,” said Hussain.

Hussain said that what was shameful was that the false promises that are being made in Pakistan are still being made.

Statements such as these are putting people in a delusion, like they have been put in delusions in the past, said Hussain.

The MQM chief said that he will talk in detail about the ship’s captain, those running the ship and other staff in his next address to the Raabta Committee.

This is a factual analysis. Unless we get out of this denial mode and face reality, Pakistan will be gone or at the least will become a pariah state. Is this what we want for our children? People need to realize that there is no conspiracy theory..it is our mullah and military along with their sympathizers in the assemblies including PTI, PMLN, JI, JUI and the sectarian outfits and strategic assets such as taliban that are bleeding this country dry. We need to accept we made a mistake and purge them as soon as possible.

It is really difficult to convince a person who had to resign from a decade old Executive position in The State Bank of Pakistan in mid 1990s, sell his property at throw away prices and moved to Lahore to save his and his family’s life just because of the good governance of your beloved party who then used to write orders using gun barrel and bullet.

Folks sorry to break it to you, but here goes “THERE IS NO UMMAH” Get over it, we are Pakistanis lets worry about Pakistan….all this talk of Ummah makes me sick as it is exploitative and plays on our emotions. A hard look around us shows exactly where the Ummah is, Saudia and Iran are fighting proxy wars with each other, Bahrain and Pakistan being two of those proxies, Syrian rebellion is supported by Turkey and Qater. The Arab countries gave the go-ahead for the bombing of Libya. Kuwait does not even give Pakistani’s visas anymore ? So I ask again, what Ummah are we talking about ? The Ummah which is busy fighting and killing each other ?

Musharaf has done great injustice to the people of Karachi by allowing it to come back. The hard work done by Gen. Babar undone so quickly is taking the toll on ordinary Karachiites. Role of the the media is questionable here. Why cant it just ignore this person and tell him first come to Pakistan and them issue statements…….
