German investment: Delegation discusses hydel projects

KfW Development Bank is providing €97 million for the construction of the 122 megawatt (MW) Keyal Khwar project.

LAHORE: A delegation of the KfW Development Bank Germany, headed by Dr Claudia Loy, discussed matters relating to financing of various hydropower projects with Chairman of Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) here at Wapda House on Monday.

KfW Development Bank is providing €97 million for the construction of the 122 megawatt (MW) Keyal Khwar project, and has also committed to partly finance the 35MW Harpo Hydropower Project by providing €20 million. In addition, the bank has also shown interest in financing the 80MW Phandar Hydropower Project.

During the meeting, the KfW Development Bank Division Chief said the bank and Wapda had a long history of mutual cooperation, adding that the bank would continue supporting the WAPDA for construction of water and hydropower projects.
