QUETTA: Former advocate general Balochistan Salahuddin Mengal was recovered on Tuesday night in Quetta, almost a month and a half after he was kidnapped, Express News reported.

Mengal was kidnapped in broad daylight from Saryab Road on April 4. According to Quetta police, he was abducted by unknown assailants while he was on his way home from the Balochistan High Court.

Following the kidnapping, angry protesters had blocked Saryab Road, chanting slogans against the government over continued kidnappings in the province. Lawyers in Balochistan have also boycotted courts to protest against the kidnapping.

The former advocate general was left on the same road he was kidnapped from on Tuesday, sources confirmed.

His brother Advocate Najam also confirmed to media outlets that Mengal had been recovered.

It appears that ransom money has been extorted from the anguished family. Only a day earlier Police had made two kidnappers flees from Police lockup in Quetta. Kidnappers appear to have a strong network in Balochistan Police. Some time back a DSP was also arrested for kidnapping along with some Police Officials. Such criminal elements should be ruthlessly eliminated from government institutions.
