RATODERO: Six hundred and twenty nine high school teachers (HSTs), junior school teachers (JSTs) and other equivalent grade staff of Sindh’s education department working in Larkana district have been granted the next higher scale on the basis of time scale and awarded teaching allowance.

The promotions took place in compliance with the finance department’s notification dated June 7, which was issued in favour of teachers after their recent widespread protest demonstrations and parleys between the representatives of Government Secondary Teachers Association (GSTA) and the provincial government.

The general secretary GSTA Larkana district, Abdul Rehman Supro, said on Sunday that the Departmental Promotion Committee meeting was delayed because of the devastating floods in Sindh but it was finally held on September 22, under the chairmanship of DCO Larkana Aleem Lashari. The demand for higher scales and teaching allowances was approved at this meeting.

He said that promotions included 57 HSTs serving in Larkana district have been granted the incentive of higher grade on the basis of time scale to BPS-19
