LAHORE:

The Punjab University Syndicate on Saturday endorsed the decision to generate funds through the commercial use of the university’s resources in a meeting at the vice chancellor’s officer.

The syndicate also approved the formation of three committees that will have the authority to issue notifications of PhD degrees, appointments and affiliation. A committee was also formed to look into the matter of plagiarism charges levelled against a PU dean.

The syndicate decided to summon former dean Dr Mugheesuddin Sheikh and former Institute of Communication Studies director Dr Ahsan Akhter Naz to its next meeting.

The syndicate formed a committee to inquire into alleged misconduct by Dr Naz and financial irregularities by Dr Sheikh during their respective tenures at ICS. They would be proceeded against under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act.
