ISLAMABAD:

Society for Empowering Human Resource (SEHER) organised an arts and sports event for street children on Saturday. The event aimed to nurture the skills that will enable them to make productive contributions to society.

Some children took a keen interest in painting, reciting poems and drawing but a large number of them played cricket with youth volunteers from International Islamic University Islamabad and Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology. “They are brave, committed children who juggle studies and work and it is our responsibility to encourage them,” SEHER Executive Director Abdul Wadood Khan said.

SEHER Media Coordinator Immaduddin said the organisation would be helping to launch a month-long media campaign on the sustainable development and protection of street children, while seminars at most universities of the federal capital have also been arranged for this.
