KARACHI:

Pakistan teenager Nasir Iqbal’s impressive run at the Professional Squash Association’s international event in Kuwait ended when he was outplayed by a home player in the final yesterday.

Iqbal, who entered the event as an unseeded player, registered a series of upsets on his course to the final, where he met Abdul al Mezayan. However, the 25-year old Kuwaiti star proved too tough for the 18-year old Pakistani as he clinched the battle with scores of 11-9, 11-7 and 11-4.

Despite the defeat, Nasir, the world number 69, has a reason to feel enthusiastic as he expects an improvement in his world rankings after playing his fourth final in his last five campaigns.
