LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Syed Munawar Hassan held a meeting to discuss seat adjustment between both the parties across Pakistan for the upcoming elections, Express News reported on Sunday.
The JI chief and Khan, while addressing the media, announced they have formed committees that will reach consensus regarding seat adjustments.
“PTI will not carry out seat adjustment with the people who were in power for the last five years,” Khan said.
Earlier on March 17, both the parties agreed to seat adjustment in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).
PTI provincial president Asad Qaiser had explained that both the parties had been part of the All-Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) in the past and would continue to cooperate in the future.
Commenting on the appointment of Justice retired Mir Hazar Khan Khoso as interim prime minister by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Munawar Hassan said, “The interim prime minister [Hazar Khan Khoso] doesn’t have a an impressive past record but we don’t want to judge him by that. We will first see his performance and then comment further.”
“We respect Fakhruddin G Ibrahim but we do have reservations regarding the caretaker prime minister. He does not have an impartial track record,” Khan said.
He also had strong reservations against president Asif Ali Zardari.
"His [Zardari's] life depends on having the PPP in power. How will he act as an unbiased component of the interim set up?" Khan questioned.

Why are you angry man. I just asked a simple question to PTI and IK that how can you talk about justice when Jamaat Islami believes in injustice to other fellow pakistanis and minorities and is a source of intolerance,hatred and extremism. Jamaat history is a testimony at this @Bilal:
IK and Munnawar Hasan both has expressed their doubt on the integrity of the care taker PM . It clearly indicate that they know the election result . PPP once again comming in power with the open support of MQM and Musarraf .
@ADEEL: Yes but Munawar Hassan does not have clarity in his views. He himself can't explain reasons for his ideas. This means he is either an incapable person, or he purposefully does not in which he probably believes his reasons are not right which could mean ignorance or hypocrisy. And the fact that he was elected by JI, then he reflects JI as whole.... which isn't really a good impression.
And I'm making this assessment based on various interviews of his that I've watched.
I'd rather take a full day nap than voting for Extremists like JI, JUI and PTI.
I am so disappointed in PTI and Imran Khan. The very same party which stuck together with the Zia ul Haq who destroyed the country and supports Taliban. The party whose MNA was harbouring Taliban terrorists in his house. The party who called Jinnah Kaffir e Azam and opposed Pakistan but when Partition took place, the Liars and hypocrites came here. And the same party which called Imran the Jewish Agent. Please do not let the majority of your voters and Pakistanis by going with JI. I would respect you even if you lose but even if you win 1 seat compromising on your belief sad day for Pakistan.
I am an Imran supporter but am in total disagreement with his alliance with the most selfish exploiter of religion i.e. JI. If my dear Khan has to commit political suicide, then he may go ahead with JI embraces.
If my dear Khan has to represent the people of Pakistan and solve their prolbems, then he should come out of the deadly embrace of the JI.
The following article should tell all PTI supporters what they are getting themselves into. Truly saddened to see IK getting so close to JI.

Some people who are ALLERGIC to the word ISLAM are crticizing the seat adjustment of PTI with JI.Both parties have honest leadeship and their seat adjustment would help beat PML N and PPP candidates.My entire family will vote for PTI for their this sensible move.We must admit that JI has a vote bank particularly in KPK and Karachi.Its a win win situation for both parties.

Unfortunately for IK, it looks like eventually only the 'new Jamaatis' will be standing with him. Our emotional youth jumping the Khan bandwagon has zero knowledge of Right/Left wing politics. At the end, IK will only make a dent in the PML N vote bank. TI may not affect PPP and companys' vote bank at all as they have Center Left and Left politics etc ... Which is unfortunate, but lets be prepared for the reality.
If you are so sure of your wins Khan, then forget seat adjustment before the polls, and prove that its a clean sweep! These moves only discourage a significant number of your admirers.

Bad move khan saab I was going to vote for you but not anymore I watched a programme on tv recently the host asked mr Hassan do you condem the bombing in quetta (in feb) mr Hassan said I condem drone attacks the host asked 6 times and Hassan said 6 times I condem drone attacks. We all are against drone attacks but only a few are against terrorists. I will not vote for anyone now.

Corruption is bad - but religious extremism maybe the biggest issue in Pakistan and alliances with knuckledragger's only makes matters worse.

You need to check your facts from Election Commission Pakistan's website if your memory is failing you ... JI was part of MMA .. The only time they formed a govt in KPK was in 2002 .. and the only thing that govt achieved was taking down all billboards and throwing the society further in to stone age .. Their CM was known to be most corrupt person. They were allotted Book as Election symbol which they used to present as holy book to get votes from illiterate masses. Due to their poor governance they were rejected in election of 2008, when they won only 7 NA general seats and KPK they had only 10 seats mainly from far flung areas and hopefully will never see more seats in future.
And he finally comes out of the closet.. About the only silver lining in the cloud.. Mullahs dont get votes in Pakistan.
The JI may well end up being the iceberg to PTI's Titanic..
Thats about the only hope we have for this country's future.

We the people of Balochistan are happy on this move. We welcome both parties to have a joint jalsa in Balochistan. In my view both parties are clear of any corruption.
Great news. Both parties have true democracy within their ranks. Both of them provide opportunity to the true workers even if they belong to lowers rungs of society. Moreover, pity on these who think that IK is an extremist proved by this seat adjustment (not alliance, remember), JUI-F people in KPK call him a Jew. I am impressed by IK, how did he convince different people of different perceptions about himself.

@Faheem: Exactly. And in the process he agreed to JI conditions! This was the only issue stopping their union. If he gives 10 seats in KPK, 10 in Punjab, 5 in Balochistan and 5 in Karachi to JI (just assumptions, but it would be closer), he would loose 30 seats already, denying right of PTI's 80000 selected members. Would JI win more than 5? No. PTI may have won 10. Then why? And do not forget the sacrifice of "neutrality" --- joining hands with right wing "mullahas", which may result in loosing PTI's genuine support.

This is seat adjustment. There is a big difference between seat adjustment and alliance.
Secondly, IK said he will never make alliance with any party who is in the current (now ex) Govt.
Thirdly, ET missed IKs tweet in which he mentions that it has been made clear to JI that this seat adjustment is applicable if only they don't make any alliance/seat adjustment with PML(N).

Very nice, its not left or right that matters the most right now, its right or wrong. both parties boycotted the elections 2008 on a matter of principle i.e. for independence of judiciary. it is good to see them cooperating again parties who have been enjoying power for the last five years, in center and provinces as well.

A very good decision by PTI. JI is the only other party which boycotted the elections in 2002, despite having 34+ seats in the National Assembly and govt in NWFP. JI leadership is also from lower middle class and has no allegations let alone cases of corruption or dishonesty.
PMLN and PPP were greedy and went in when they saw a little public support and broke the agreement.
This alliance should get the KPK government sealed for PTI and JI enabling them to create a model province. I think in total they are capable of getting 60+ seats in the NA. Opposition leader should be from PTI/JI because if PMLN forms govt and then PPP gets the opposition leader then they will overshadow PTI and it will be very devastating as PPP will prove to be a good opposition as Zardari is the King of Politics.
