KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari instructed the Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah to take immediate steps to rehabilitate the victims of Abbas Town blasts and provide them with apartments, Express News reported.

Zardari held a meeting with the Chief Minister, provincial ministers, and the chief secretary of Sindh at the Chief Minister House in Karachi on Friday and asked them to start relief efforts right away.

Regarding the allotment of apartments, the Sindh government was instructed that the relatives of the deceased should be preferred over other affectees.

On March 7, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah rejected the notion that government officials and police were busy at a dinner rather than tending to victims of the twin bombings in Abbas Town.

Twin blasts shook Shia-dominated Abbas Town, Karachi, on March 3, which left at least 50 dead and over 140 injured.

Though I am not biased against Shai communitiy, but to tell the truth out of 50 people killed in the Abbas Town blast, only 16 people of Shia community were killed and rest of them were Sunnis.

To verify, whether I am stating right or wrong, take out the news papers of last Monday/Tuesday morning and the readers will come to know that how many dead bodies were lying for Namaz-e-Janaza on Sharah-e-Pakistan.

Coming back on the point of allotment of apartments to the immediate relatives of the deceased, the Government should allot the apartments, but at the same time should ask the law enforcing agencies that similar incident should not take place during the few remaining days of PPP government.

@Mohammad Ali Siddiqui. You might want to recheck your facts. Out of the 50, 18 were Sunnis. Also those sunnis didn’t die because they were Sunnis. They died because terrorists doesn’t care who they kill as long as they kill the Shias. Don’t make this a shia vs sunni thing. Everyone knows Shias are getting killed in every part of Pakistan. You should thank the fanatics because they are the same people that are killing sunnis too.
