FAISALABAD:
An 18-year-old girl and her alleged lover were killed by the girl’s uncle on Thursday, police said.
The bodies were found buried in a shallow grave near the crime scene.
Tandlianwala police said they had arrested the murderer, Muhammad Zahoor, who they said had confessed to the crime. They said he had led the police to the bodies.
Police said Yasmeen, a resident of Chak 423-GB Annuana, was suspected of having an illicit relationship with Masood, 22, of the same neighbourhood.
They said her uncle had previously reprimanded her over this and had stopped her from leaving the house.
When she did not listen, he would beat her, police said.
On Thursday, they said, when Zahoor returned home, he claimed to have found Masood in Yasmeen’s room.
They said he beat the two and took them to a construction site in Malamja village in the Noor Shah Sahiwal police area.
There, police said, he strangled them and buried them in a ditch.
After Masood did not return home, his parents reported him missing. One of Zahoor’s neighbours told police that he had last seen Masood entering Zahoor’s house.
When the house was raided and the girl was also found missing, police arrested Zahoor on suspicion.
Later, at the police station, he confessed to the crime. He later told police where he had buried the bodies.
Station house officer led a team that recovered the bodies and sent them for a post-mortem examination.
Girl raped by uncle, killed
Elsewhere, the body of a 10-year-old girl, who was raped and strangled allegedly by her paternal uncle, was found in a field on Wednesday. Police have arrested the uncle, who they say has confessed to the crime.
Khurrianwala police said that the girl, a resident of Abadi Chak 75-RB, went missing on Tuesday. Her parents searched her everywhere in the area before they informed the police.
When they said that the girl had last left home with her uncle Iftikhar Hussain, police arrested him.
They said he later confessed to raping and killing the girl. He said he dumped the body in the field.
Police recovered the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination to Allied Hospital.
