GUJRAT:

Police on Thursday arrested three people, including two college students, and registered a case against 25 people for vandalising six college buses and for a brawl on college premises.

Civil Lines Station House Officer Malik Amir said that an argument between some students of Government Science College and Punjab College started over a bet to approach girls from the other college and seek Valentine dates.

This led to a brawl that went on for more than an hour, he said. Police were then called.

Witness told police that more than 100 students were involved in the brawl. Some students from the Government Science College later threw stones at six Punjab College buses parked in front of the college. Some of them also brought clubs and broke the windscreens of the buses.

A witness said for the first few minutes, the police team that arrived on the scene, stood as spectators. One student noticed them and they dispersed on their own.

Police later arrested two students and another person. Cases were registered against 25 people on the complaint of the Punjab College administration.

The arrested students were identified as Qamar Shehzad and Ahmed Khan.
