LAHORE:

The temperature fell by five degrees as it drizzled all day on Sunday. The light rain, beginning at around 12.30pm, signalled the start of a wet spell which will likely continue till February 5, said the Met Office.

Only one millimetre of rain was reported to have fallen in the city by 5pm. Heavier showers are forecast for Monday. The Met Office recorded a maximum temperature of 17 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 8.5 degrees, down five degrees from Saturday’s high of 23 degrees. The lowest temperature on Saturday was 7.5 degrees. The Met Office said the temperature would dip further after rain on Monday.

The skies are expected to clear by Wednesday. The cool weather and light rain brought many people out of their homes on Sunday evening to enjoy the last throes of winter. Restaurants, cafes and roadside eateries enjoyed brisk business.

Adil Shoaib from Gulberg visited a roadside stall at Lakshmi Chowk along with his friends to have some green tea. “For refreshments in the open air, this is the best weather,” he said.
