Ajmal Pahari released from detention

Pahari successfully petitioned in the high court against his detention under the MPO after he was cleared in cases.

Pahari, arrested on March 18, 2011, was being detained at Central Prison Karachi since September 2012.

Ajmal Pahari, arrested for his alleged involvement in more than a hundred cases of target killings in Karachi was released from Central Jail, Karachi on Friday.

DIG prisons Nusrat Mangan while talking to The Express Tribune confirmed that Pahari was being released after being acquitted or securing bail in all cases registered against him. For the past four months he had been detained at the Central Jail, Karachi under maintenance of public order (MPO).

Pahari had been arrested by Crime Investigation Department's Anti Extremist Cell in March 2011 during a raid on his New Karachi area hideout.

Having been acquitted or secured bails in cases, Pahari had successfully petitioned against his detention in the Sindh High Court.
