KARACHI:

The mother of a minor boy, Nusrat Bano, has approached the Sindh High Court to seek protection for her son due to alleged threats by her ex-husband who is an Indian national.

On Wednesday, the court issued notice to the secretary of the interior ministry, director general of federal investigation agency, provincial police chief and Liaquatabad police.

Bano submitted that she was married to Muhammad Jaffar in Karachi on January 28, 2008 and later moved to Rajasthan, India with her husband where their son was born in 2010. According to the petitioner, her husband subjected her to torture and finally sent Bano and her son back to Pakistan.

Petitioner’s lawyer, Qadir Hussain Khan, told the judge that Jaffar has orally divorced Bano twice but has been threatening her and their son.

He asked the court to order police protection for the petitioner and her son. The court was also urged to restrain the interior ministry and FIA authorities from sending the minor to India.
