A woman was arrested on Friday for allegedly killing her husband.


Baghdaadul Jadeed police said that Qari Abdul Rehman, prayer leader at Bilal Mosque in Dilawar Colony, was hit on the head by his wife, Mahjabeen, with a frying pan after they quarrelled over breakfast. He died before he could be taken to a hospital. The incident was reported to the police by Muhammad Shaukat, brother of the deceased, who visited the couple with his wife shortly afterwards.

Shaukat said when they entered the house, they saw his sister-in-law standing next to his brother, who was lying in a pool of blood.

He said he rushed to taken his brother to a hospital, but he was already dead.

He said he told his wife to hold on to Mahjabeen, while he went to call the police.

SHO Aamir Ghauri claimed that Mahjabeen had confessed to hitting her husband who, she said, frequently beat her. She said it was an accident. Shaukat said he had never seen his brother hit his wife or children. Rehman and Mahjabeen had four children.
