BAHAWALPUR: The poor performance of Pakistani leaders will be disclosed in the annual reports of Transparency International and the World Justice Project, Jamaat-i-Islami (Punjab) Amir Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar said on Sunday.

He was talking to reporters at his office.

Dr Akhtar said that in 2008, the internal and external debt of Pakistan was Rs700 billion. This, he said, had reached Rs1,450 billion in 2012. According to government reports, he said, 115 million people in Pakistan faced food deficiencies.

Workers of political parties were being appointed in the Pakistan International Airlines, the Steel Mills, Railways and other departments “by violating merit”.

Quoting from an Economic Department survey, Dr Akhtar said that the per capita income of Pakistan was reducing day by day.

He said the World Bank had refused to give more loans to Pakistan observing the performances of the Pakistani government.

He alleged that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and its allies had committed corruption of more than Rs12,600 billion, which he said, was a record.

He said that the people should refuse to vote for corrupt leaders. He said, “The people must vote for a leadership which is stainless, patriotic and educated and not for slaves of America.”
