Sharjeel was smashed 141 off just 131 deliveries, laced with 25 boundaries and three sixes, as ZTBL managed to cross the 400-run mark on the opening day. Haris, meanwhile, remained unbeaten on 103 off 137 balls, his fourth century of the event. Imran Nazir chipped in with a quick 55 as Shabbir Ahmed, Mohammad Arshad, Atif Jabbar and Kashif Bhatti picked up a wicket each following UBL’s decision to bowl first.
Ali Khan shines for KRL
While UBL bowlers’ struggled, fast-bowler Ali Khan claimed a five-wicket haul for KRL which bowled out star-studded NBP for just 124 at the KRL Stadium in Rawalpindi.
Khan’s victim included captain Fawad Alam (zero), Kamran Akmal (two) and Sami Aslam (12). Anwar Hafeez (45) was the top-scorer for NBP.
Meanwhile, PQA enjoyed a good start to their last match of the trophy, compiling 293 for the loss of just two wickets on the opening day against finalists HBL.
Umar Amin stole the limelight with an unbeaten 97, while Khurram Manzoor (74), Usman Tariq (64) and Daniyal Ahsan (42) were the other main contributors.
Elsewhere, the other finalists and leaders SNGPL, after resting Misbahul Haq and Mohammad Hafeez, reached 213 for six against SBP. Mohammad Rizwan was the highest scorer with an unbeaten 77, while Riwan Haider (three for 61) and Mohammad Ali (two for 64) were the main wicket-takers for SBP.
At Mirpur Stadium, inspired by Anwar Ali’s four for 65, PIA confined Wapda to 212 for nine despite a defiant, unbeaten 87 from Hafiz Saad.
