KARACHI:

After receiving myriad complaints, Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has ordered the appointments of more than 4,000 people in the education department to be canceled and has formed a team to investigate the matter.

The spokesperson for the Chief Minister House said on Friday that the decision was taken after several complaints emerged from Shikharpur and Jacobabad. “The chief minister has ordered the officials to submit a report to him within in a week.” Education officials said that more than 4,000 people paid their way to a job in both districts. The situation was particularly bad in Jacobabad, where around 3,000 people had been hired for 150 spots, triggering a war of words between the district’s deputy commissioner, education officers and teachers’ association.  MNA Aijaz Jakhrani has summoned both the officials today to resolve the matter.
