KARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) Secretary General Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh has said that the Sindh Peoples Local Government Ordinance (SPLGO) 2012 has divided Sindh which is not acceptable to the people of Sindh.

Talking to American Political officer Daniel Spokojny and Economic Chief Anu Prattipati on Thursday, Sheikh said that the PML-F President Pir Sibghatullah Shah Rashidi has advised his party to oppose the SPLGO 2012 at every forum, and that the party's MPs are now sitting on opposition benches.

Sheikh said that under the new local government system, mayors and nazims have been given the magisterial powers and they are allowed to confiscate any property. He said that by virtue of this, nazim and mayors would now have powers to take action against any individual.

The PML-F general secretary added that each and every clause of SPLGO 2012 was against the interest of the masses.
