KARACHI: A former income tax commissioner was shot dead by unidentified men in Karachi, Express News reported Thursday.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) South, Asif Aijaz Shaikh, former income tax commissioner Mumtaz Shaikh left his Defence Phase IV residence for his office when some unidentified men in a car opened fire at him.
The former commissioner died on the spot.
The assailants fled the scene right after, while a Kalashnikov and three bullet shells were recovered from the crime site.
Shaikh was a senior member of the revenue board in the local government.
The police have initiated an investigation.
Very sad indeed, May he rests in peace. Despite majority in Sindh Assembly, the so called idea of PPP that making allied govt in Sindh will prevent violence and help establish peace in Karachi have proven complete failure. Terrorists and their supporting parties do not understand reconciliation, they use guns and politics of blackmail to get benefits. Only stern actions across the board against terrorists and their supporters could bring back the peace to Karachi.
