Punjab offers free education to terror victims
In a bid to express solidarity with the families of victims of target and sectarian killings, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has invited affected families from across the country to apply for an education package introduced by the Punjab chief minister.
The invitation was extended by PML-N leader Marvi Memon at a news conference on Monday. Memon condemned the killing of innocent people and held the federal and provincial governments, save the Punjab government, responsible for such incidents.
“We hold the federal and provincial governments of Sindh, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan equally responsible for the failure of law and order,” said Memon, who recently returned from a countrywide tour to offer condolences to victims’ families on the instructions of Nawaz Sharif.
While explaining the details of the chief minister’s education package, Memon said the Punjab government would provide free education to one child of every victim family at an institution of their choice.
“There cannot be any compensation for the lives lost in such incidents but this initiative is aimed at securing [the families’] future,” said Memon.
When asked whether the education package would be available for families of drone attack victims, Memon said the proposal would be presented before the leadership for their inclusion as well.
Asked about the budgetary details of the education package, Memon said the Punjab government was presently receiving applications and she did not have exact details at this juncture, adding that the amount spent on every child would vary depending on preferences in educational institutions.
The PML-N leader decried attacks on Shias and attempts to destabilise sectarian harmony in the country.

@random, @naeem & @awans For God sake, please come out of this copy phobia of PTI and learn to show some courage to appreciate the good deeds of a party/government. Ex-PM Gillani was right when he said that "we do not need to oppose Punjab Govt since they are entangled by Dengue on one hand and by Imran Khan on the other hand". By the grace of Allah Almighty, the Punjab Government has eradicated Dengue and will similarly eradicate the other enemies too. Imran Khan and his PTI spends most of its time on bashing PML rather than criticising the wrongdoings of PPP and is therefore rightly dubbed as BTeam of PPP.
@Awans: Punjab has to show the open heart otherwise distance between the people from different demographic origins will lead towards the End Game (EG = No Pakistan)
I never remain voter of PML(N) but I am impressed with Punjab GOVT's on merit teacher recruitment. I can remember the teacher recruitment during Pervaiz elahi's GOVT, when merit was totally ignored.
It is appaling that Imran Khan and PTI supporters have so much hate / agenda against PML N. The purpose of PTI is only to fight PML(N) or will they every stand up to MQM/ANP/PPP as well!

First they promote terrorist mentality and sectarian outfits and then they support the victims. A great way to manage supply and demand. What they are doing is trying to get sympathy of short termed memory holding public after spending 4 years in friendly opposition. What kind of democratic party is PML (N)? a party named after its living quaid. And don't give me PTI based explanation. I am not their supporter too.
@Awan, if Sindh or another province cannot take an initiative, do you want Punjab should also not serve humanity? Read what PMLN is offering. It is offering a support to those minorities affected by tyrants. They are offering "one child per family". First calculate how many families have been effected whether they re in milliions/ thousands or hundreds then talk about the expense. Once finished, then try to find the reason why PMLN has decided to offer a package to terror victims, if unable to understand, try to read news where hindu Pakistanis are trying to seek citizenship of India and want to leave Pakistan because of their victimization.
Punjab gov should offer non support of sectarian outfits instead of issuing fake programs
The pressure of PTI has already made a change in its rival parties and Pakistan. Hope PTI governs the country and set great exampbes to be followed and improved upon by the following governments, no matter who forms them!
Who copied PTI? PTI cannot even dictate its own Kasuri let alone talking about nation. Would Kasuri agree to admit one single poor guy in his elite schools?

free education...good step ..but what will be the quality of education when the teachers who are going to teach them ...they themselves need education. Illiteracy rate in Punjab is highest in Asia and healthcare facility poor quality is evident from the fact that infant mortality rate of Punjab is the worst even compared to Countries like Rwanda and Liberia.Billions have been spent on free laptops whereas majority of poor children of Punjab dont have proper built schools to study..the teachers traning is worst.....so qaulity of teaching is uderstandable. It is even more hillarious that those graduate and post graduate students who have got laptops are driving Auto rickshaws. Pakistan should be given gold medal as it might be the only country whose graduates drive auto rickshaws....Only Allah can protect from these leaders..

really! how can she ignore the government of Punjab who is offering protection and patronage of leaders of extremist organization perhaps at the behest of their Saudi masters? Miss Memon needs to wake up from her slumber. Maybe she should also explain why all cases of alleged blasphemy are reported in the province ruled by her masters, why acts of barbarism happen under the watch of her party's government? wake miss before it's too late.
