One dead, 4 injured in clash at Jinnah hospital

Clash erupted in Defence View area and continued till Jinnah hospital. Police, Rangers take situation into control.

KARACHI: One person was killed and four others were injured when two armed groups clashed against each within the Jinnah Post-graduate Medical College in Karachi on Saturday, reported Express News.

Express News correspondent Nadeem Ahmad reported that the clash erupted initially near Defence View area of the city and carried into the public hospital.

The dead was identified as 20-year-old Mohammad Qadeer, while the injured included Farman, Owais, Akram and Naveed. According to details, Farman and Owais had bullet wounds while Akram and Naveed had been tortured with hammers and sticks.

The firing incident caused panic in the hospital forcing the medical staff to flee their posts and take refuge inside the wards.

However, a heavy contingent of police and Rangers officials soon arrived on the scene and controled the situation and cordoned off the hospital.

The injured were also taken into custody and are being questioned by the authorities.
