Speaking at a conference in Islamabad titled “Higher education in the Islamic world: Challenges and Opportunities,” he said that he would not like to comment on the financial impropriety case against Dr Arsalan Iftikhar in the Supreme Court.
Gilani said that the tradition of giving Nobel prizes has been continuing since 1901, but sadly, only nine Muslim scientists were able to achieve this honour.
He said that one-fourth of the world population constitutes of Muslims and that almost 50% of the world’s natural resources are under the control of Muslim states.
Gilani added that these resources could not be put to use despite the advances in the field of science and technology.
