FAISALABAD: National assembly speaker has upheld the supremacy of the parliament by not referring a disqualification reference over the PM’s conviction in a contempt of court case to the Election Commission of Pakistan, MPA Jahanzaib Imtiaz Gill said in a press statement. Gill criticised the politicians who had challenged the speaker’s ruling in the Supreme Court and said that their move could damage the democratic process. He said the speaker’s ruling had clarified that there was no grounds for the prime minister’s conviction under the Article 63 of the Constitution.
