A cylinder exploded in Korangi Industrial Area, near Singer Chowrangi, killing two and injuring 18 people, Express News reported on Monday.

Oxygen was being filled into a cylinder when it exploded, completely destroying the surrounding walls, causing the roof to collapse. An estimated 100 workers were present in the factory at this time. The workers are buried under the rubble, according to Express News correspondent Rehan Khan.

Rescue teams have, thus far, rescued 18 people, five of them were reported to be in critical condition and were taken to a nearby hospital. The remaining injured have been transported to Jinnah Hospital.

Rescue teams arrived at the scene after the incident, but the lack of heavy equipment to remove the rubble delayed rescue operations.

Other cylinders at the factory were reported to be leaking explosive Oxygen gas, and there remains the imminent threat of another explosion.
