FAISALABAD: A lawyer was  immediately suspended by the district bar when he threw his shoe at a judge for rejecting a bail application, hitting him and causing judges to stop working in protest, Express News reported.

Advocate Masood went to Additional Session Judge Asad Ali’s court for bail but when the judge rejected his application, the lawyer got out of control and threw his shoe at the judge.

Upon receiving news of the incident, session and civil judges stopped working and gathered in the senior civil judge’s room in protest, while lawyers called an emergency meeting in the bar room.

The district bar, upon receiving notification of the incident, immediately suspended the lawyer’s membership.

This is the real picture of our society and its highly educated professionals. Blaming the govt is easy but we all have to take a look at our own actions. Personal character and personal responsibility is a must for a civilized society.

So the judges stopped working in protest to what end? Not keeping the well being of the people in mind because their feelings were hurt by a single lawyer?
Is there anything that doesn’t make any given group stage a protest in Pakistan or are some people capable of dealing with their disagreements like grown ups?

It seems that both lawyers and judges are always looking for an opportunity not to do any work.

Lawyers generally behave atrociously, quite similar to the past behavior of members of armed forces and intelligence agencies. The judges can square off with all the other pressure groups in Pakistan including the holy cows of armed forces but still seems to be reluctant, nearly afraid, to enforce discipline among lawyers.
You can see them, at every tier of judiciary, regularly coming very hard and using strong language against police officers, civil servants, politicians, etc, but here they ran away to the senior civil judge’s room and stopped working. Why not arrest this person and send him to jail? Show some muscle now.

No contempt of court for the lawyer in question. If contempt of court can be imposed on the sitting PM for allegedly refusing the Supreme Court’s order, why not on a petty lawyer for making fun of the court? Why one standard for the country’s PM and another for a petty lawyer? If things remain as they are, someday Supreme Court’s CJ will also be greeted by a shoe in his court.

Lawyer power. Remember the black coat movement. Luckily he threw only one shoe, what if he had thrown booth? Did the shoe hit the target or missed? The judges ought to sit behind a protective screen so as to do their job without fear (shoe) or favor.Recommend
