Systemic problems: PILER chief laments govt’s apathy towards labour rights

KARACHI: Neither the economy nor democracy will flourish in Pakistan unless labour rights are guaranteed, said Karamat Ali, executive director of the Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research (PILER), at a press conference at the Karachi Press Club on Monday.

Ali said that due to the government’s indifferent attitude, industrial productivity in Pakistan was relatively lower than that in other South Asian countries.
