QUETTA: Four suspected militants were killed and seven were rounded up by security forces during a pre-dawn raid at a flood-affected Girls Primary School near Turbat on Friday morning.
The Frontier Corps had launched a search operation in the Gigon area, 30km away from Turbat, on a tipoff, according to a local Balochistan Levies official.
“Security forces tried to arrest the suspects during the search operation but they opened fire,” said a spokesperson for the FC. “Four suspects were killed in retaliatory fire and seven have been arrested.”
The spokesman said a large arms and ammunition cache was also recovered from the site, adding that the suspects were currently being interrogated.
Sources told The Express Tribune that the suspect could belong to Baloch militant groups, which are often accused of targeting security forces in the Makran division. No statement, however, was issued by banned Baloch groups till the filing of this report.
