Empty measures: Yet another committee set up to curb violence

The committees will have members of all the coalition partners, PPP, ANP and Muttahida Qaumi Movement.

Pakistan Peoples Party and its coalition partners decided to set up yet another committee at the union council level and revived the old one to combat lawlessness.


The committees will have members of all the coalition partners, PPP, Awami National Party and Muttahida Qaumi Movement.

This was decided when Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan met with PPP senator Faisal Raza Abidi at Governor House. Briefing the media after the meeting, the governor said that some elements wanted to disturb the peace of the city but the committee has been given the task of exposing the culprits.

When asked about the committees which were set up in the past but did not work, the governor replied that the party leaders will now meet regularly. Like before, he said that the police and Rangers have been given a free hand to take action against the suspects irrespective of their party affiliation. Dr Sagheer Ahmed, Wasim Aftab and Hamad Siddiqui of MQM, Ismail Brohi, Rashid Rabbani Saeed of PPP also attended the meeting.
