Threatening Calls: Two policemen arrested

Officials accused of demanding Rs5 million and threatening with kidnapping.

Jhang Police have arrested two police officers for threatening a businessman and his manager with abduction.


District Police Officer Rao Abdul Kareem said Nadeem Sohail and Sohail Tariq were tracked down by reviewing call record of the complainant with assistance from intelligence agencies. Sohail Tariq, an employee in the Patrolling Police, was posted with Chimranwali police post in Jhang. Nadeem Sohail was an employee of the Prisons Department and was performing duties at Faisalabad district jail. An investigation officer said departmental proceedings would also be initiated against the suspects.

Rice mill owner Hammad and his manager Usman Ghani had accused the officials of demanding Rs5 million and threatening with kidnapping if the amount was not paid to them. The FIR registered against the suspects with the Satellite Town police on March 24 included Sections 25/D of the Telegraph Act and 506-B of Pakistan Penal Code.
