Rally on the mall: Comments sought by April 2

Law Minister Rana Sanaullah along with others took out a rally at The Mall.

LAHORE: Additional District and Sessions Judge (AD&SJ) Muhammad Ijaz Butt sought comments, on Friday, from the Capital City Police Officer and SHOs of Civil Lines and Race Course police stations by April 2 on a petition seeking registration of case against the provincial law minster and others for taking out a rally on The Mall.

The petitioner, lawyer Muhammad Muneer, submitted that no one was allowed to hold a procession, a rally or to organise a gathering on The Mall as the Lahore High Court had passed a restraining order against this. Also, the DCO had imposed a Section-144 (Criminal Procedure Code, 1898) ban in this regards, he said.

The lawyer said the police was not registering his FIR.

The petitioner prayed the court to register a case against Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, Minister for Planning and Development Abdul Ghafoor and others.

The judge sought comments from the respondents by April 2.
