The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has directed special branch of police Mardan, to submit the inquiry report of a triple-murder case for further proceedings.
Hearing a bail plea of two brothers accused in the case, PHC Chief Justice Dost Muhammad Khan issued the directive to superintendent of police Mardan, ordering him to submit the inquiry report of the murder of a woman and her two children.
Earlier, Ghazala, the sister of the accused, Muhammad Iqbal and Ashfaq, had informed the court that in an inquiry conducted by the Mardan police, sufficient evidence to prove her brothers’ innocence had been collected.
According to Ghazala’s counsel, Ehtesham, one of her brothers, had married Nargis against their family’s will and moved to Rawalpindi.
After five years of marriage, Nargis received a phone call from her parents, asking her to return home. Delighted to hear from her parents, she decided to visit them in Mardan.
She took along her minor children, Shayan, 3, and 18-month-old Alishba. All three were believed to have been killed on the night of April 3, 2011.
The counsel said Nargis’s family had accused Iqbal and Ashfaq, Ehtesham’s brothers, of killing their sister-in-law and their nephew and niece. Ehtesham has also been missing since the day his family was murdered.
Ghazala claimed she could recognise the number from which the call was made. The judge, after hearing her arguments, asked for the inquiry report.
