Accident: Three burn in oil tanker fire

Rescue officer Zahoor Ahmed said oil worth Rs9 million was burned in the fire.

RAHIM YAR KHAN: Three men including the driver of an oil tanker suffered burn injuries as the tanker overturned and caught fire on National Highway near Rahim Yar Khan on Monday night. The injured were taken to Shaikh Zayed Hospital where doctors described their condition as critical. They said Sajjad Nawaz, 35, had 70 per cent of his body burned, Zahoor Manzoor, 30, 40 per cent and Nasir Abbas, 31, 60 per cent. They were residents of Shar Shah in Multan. The tanker was transporting oil from Karachi to Lahore. Fire fighters said the accident took place at around 4am when the tanker was near Dera Shamash, Iqbalabad. They said driver had fallen asleep when the vehicle overturned. Rescue officer Zahoor Ahmed said oil worth Rs9 million was burned in the fire.
