Cold wave to continue across Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department on Wednesday forecasted cold weather conditions across the country for the next few days.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department on Wednesday forecasted cold weather conditions across the country for the next few days.

The department has forecasted that the temperature may go down to five degrees Celsius in Karachi. The Karachi Met Office says that the city will also have cold and dry weather during the next 24 hours.

It had earlier been reported that three people were found dead due to the cold weather in the city. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s records, the lowest recorded temperature in Karachi for February was three degrees Celsius recorded on February 11, 1950.

Cold weather spells continued in parts of upper Balochistan, with the mercury dropping to -10 degrees Celsius in Quetta and -16 degrees Celsius in Ziarat. The temperature has also gone down below the freezing point in Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Mastung, Kan Mehtarzai and Kalat after snowfall in the mountains.

Parts of Punjab and Sindh are also expected to experience cold and dry weather during the next 24 hours.
