APC on Balochistan: PPP backs PML-N’s proposal

Published: January 8, 2012

PPP believes in consultation to find solutions to all contentious issues: Farhatullah Babar.

ISLAMABAD:

Despite ongoing political rhetoric, the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party has responded positively to a proposal from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz to convene an all-party conference (APC) to discuss the grievances of Balochistan’s people and come up with recommendations to redress them.

“The PPP believes in consultation to find solutions to all contentious issues. The party will consider assembling a high-level delegation to participate in the proposed conference, if and when it is held,” Farhatullah Babar, the presidential spokesperson, said in a statement.

The statement came a day after PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif floated the idea of convening an APC on the situation in Balochistan. “Balochistan is burning and its issues need to be resolved urgently,” Nawaz told a news conference in Quetta. To find a solution to these problems, he offered to host an APC.

“A PML-N meeting, slated for Monday, will decide the schedule for the proposed APC,” PML-N Deputy Information Secretary Khurram Dastgir Khan told The Express Tribune.

A positive, civilized and democratic way to settle all issues. Pakistan cannot afford further delay and bloodshed to solve these burning issues. We should concentrate on the real issues instead of imagined problems which come and go like Ray Davis, KL Bill, Memo, etc.

@KMR: Only Bugtis, Marris, and Mengals have a problem as they are greedy Sardars who dont want to develop their people and control them. The rest of Balochistan along with 50% of its Pashtun population dont entertain your childish anti-Pakistan ideologies.
