The much-awaited Kaptaan — a film based on the life arc of Pakistani cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan is slated to release nationwide by the end of February, according to the film’s PR and communication agent Amar Tareen. The film, which has gone through countless delays due to production issues, has finally reached the post-production stage, according to industry insiders.
Tareen also informed The Express Tribune that the team of Kaptaan is working on the remaining 10 per cent of the film, with final shots being taken in Islamabad, Mianwali and Lahore.
“Our intention is to release the film first in the major cinemas of Pakistan and then move on to distribution options on a global level,” said Tareen. The PR agent explained that local distributors and channels have shown keen interest in distributing the film, but the unexpected delays in production are stopping them from making any commitments yet.
When asked whether the time of release was cleverly kept in sync with Khan’s popular peace rally, Tareen stated that the release is entirely dependent on the production schedule and has nothing to do with the former cricketer’s recent popularity. “People were saying that we should release later as it would coincide with the elections but we are still going according to the plan. The film is a tribute to a personality that is defined by his leadership and charisma and should not be taken as a political venture,” Tareen added. “The film is not funded by external and/or political parties and is in fact a private project with a nominal budget.”
According to Tareen, major additions had been made to the cast including the inclusion of former PTV host Saman Ansari, who is making a comeback to screen after a long time. He said she would have a major role in the film and would provide an added boost to the cast.

It will be an amazing one but i wonder that how can someone play the role of a man like IK. I mean the charisma that IK possesses is matchless. He is the most handsome man of his time. So it will be difficult for a director to reflect all these fabulous and fascinating qualities by casting some unknown actor. Any how it is a great effort indeed, an adorable one. Waiting for it desperately !!!!
@Naveed: Mirza Ghalib became a legend after his death.
Some famous people we know now, weren't as popular in their lives as they were after their death. Once they become history, people start glamourizing them over the years. Its funny how Imran Khan has achieved this kind of legendry status while he is still alive. Whoever is alive at heart, whoever has faith and whoever is faulty human like me, has their prayers for you Imran. You rock as nobody has in the history of Paksitan.
Couldn't they pick someone who looked like him? This actor looks nothing like him. Although I admit it must have been hard to find someone who looks like IK
I am so obsessed with his personality and his charistms that I never miss any programme in which he appears. I would definitely watch it. I have never Idealized any personality except him. May Allah give him long life. His critics look stupid to me. Because they want the cheap popularity.
@kamran: Willian must Be N-league and in supporting chracter PPP and MQM
The actor looks like Hrithik Roshan

Much waited filed but the appreciation really goes to producer, director if the truly represent the grate legand charactor
@Faheem: Beckham was NOTHING before Imran Khan looks-wise.
I wonder. A movie on the life of Imran Khan, and that personal life. I get to see enermous change in the perceptions of Pakistani people regarding the picture and the movies; however, that is a good transformation. I am glad.
No actor can play Imran Khan simply because nobody is as good-looking as he was. In his youth he was the most handsome man the world had seen. He was the epitome of the perfect male. His cricket too was extraordinary. All in all, he is one person NOBODY can even try to emulate.
This movie is not for PTI supporters. Its only for adults.
I can say it even without watching, there is no actor no matter how great he might be, can even come close to the real charisma that IK posseses. I saw the trailer, and I can safely say this movie did some deservice to the persona of IK. Usually movies depict larger than life characters to get publicity, but in this case, the real person is larger than life than the character itself. A pity.
Imran was a David Beckham of his time..no one look more handsome than him to portray his class, style, charisma
It will always wait formoderation
PTItroll goes in full swing
I am waiting to watch it
Only & only concept waiting for its releasing
Much Awaited.
I think Imran Khan must go through this movie for essential editing if required as political opponents are ready to exploit despite Imran has nothing to do with this movie.
Only and only Kaptaan. We are waiting for its release after IK book.
Whether this has a positive or negative effect on Imran's electoral success is to be seen...
Based on the trailer, I think the movie touches less on IK's political life and more on his cricket and personal life.
Much Awaited.
