PML-N’s central vice chairman suffered the haemorrhage in Multan on July 20. He was air-lifted to Lahore General Hospital (LGH) the same day.
Dr Tariq Salahud Din, the LGH Post Graduate Medical Institution principal, told The Express Tribune that the latest CT scans showed that the blood clots in Hashmi’s brain had started to dissolve. “Mr Hashmi can move his right leg now and his speech has also improved. He has also started eating breakfast,” the doctor added.
Dr Salahuddin said that the threat of a brain aneurysm had been ruled out by the doctors and there was no need for any operation. He added that people who suffer a brain haemorrhage often develop a visual impairment. He, however, said that it was premature to say anything about any permanent damage caused by the haemorrhage.
The doctor told the Tribune that a panel of doctors will examine Hashmi at 3:00pm on Friday. The panel will also propose future course of action for Hashmi’s treatment.
He said that he, along with other doctors, will again brief the media about Hashmi’s condition on Friday.
