BAHWALPUR: A ninth grade student alleged that her school principal had tried to rape her on Saturday. The girl and her parents have complained that police officials have dropped the case after a brief investigation.

According to police officials, Rehman Colony resident Sana, 13, said that the principal of her school called her into his office on the pretext of discussing her test results but then tried to rape her. Sana is a student of the Al-Muslim Public Girls School and told police officials that the principal of her school, Dawar Khan, had tried to rape her.

“He called me into the office and asked me to sit down then he said that I should take off my chadar and get comfortable.

Before I knew it, he had moved across the desk and was trying to grab me. I began screaming for help and a teacher came to my aid,” she said.

“He ran away by jumping out of the window of his office. Three of the teachers immediately called my parents. He was manhandling me but luckily the teachers came in before he could do anything else,” she told police.

Sana’s father Khalid Umer said that he filed a written application with the SHO detailing the entire incident. “I want this man in prison. How can we feel secure sending our girls to school with such predators employed at senior posts?” he told reporters.

A teacher at the school, Musarrat Bibi said that she had been across the hall when she heard Sana’s screams. “I didn’t know what was going on but the principal’s secretary and I barged into his office. The girl’s clothes were torn and she was in shock. Dawar ran away before we could call the guard,” she added.

Following the incident, dozens of school students blocked the Indus Highway and burnt tyres in protest.

When the police reached the scene and heard of the accounts, they pacified the crowd and said that the accused would be arrested as soon as possible. “We have registered a case and a team is searching for Dawar,” said DPO Rahim Yar Khan Zafar Sohail. Later, the SHO told reporters that there was not enough evidence to arrest Dawar.

Sohail said that City Police had launched an FIR against the principal and said that a team was searching for him. “Sana has agreed to a DNA test but there was nothing tangible to implicate him. We have taken her statement but that is not enough,” he said.

DPO Rahim Yar Khan Zafar Sohail told The Express Tribune that after investigation the police had dropped the case for lack of evidence.

“What do they mean by lack of evidence? They have two witnesses and their statements. My daughter was harassed by the principal. Will they only arrest him if she is raped?” Umer said.

Names have been changed to protect the identity of the victim

The story is very clear and its not looking real its actually real, All the parameters taken by government officials are zero from my point of view i appreciate media for highlighting this story in under pressure of PML(N) candidate who recently join the party Mr. Mian Imtiaz Ahmed who is completly directly involved in this story for bailing out the criminal person, the charge sheet will be made by government for DPO for his illegal act and for Mr. Mian Imtiaz ahmed for protecting the criminals if further proved in investigation, i request express tribune to more highlight this story for the sake of girl family i also would like to appeal CHEIF JUSTICE of PAKISTAN for taking action Thankyou ,
