MULTAN: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Farooq Sattar on Friday said that his party supported the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to ensure economic stability in the country.

Talking to the media at the Multan airport, Sattar said that their top priority is the financial prosperity and relief of the people of Pakistan and would keep on supporting the PPP for economic prosperity of the Pakistan. He said that change is inevitable but he said it is like the ‘coming winters’.

The deputy convener of MQM’s central coordination committee was accompanied by Member of National Assembly (MNA) Raza Haroon, Iftikhar Randhawa and chairman MQM Punjab. They are in Multan, on Altaf Hussain’s instructions, to attend Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Javed Hashmi’s daughter’s wedding.

Talking about the ideology of Altaf Hussain, Sattar said he believes in the philosophy of the youth adding that they will be the tool of change in Pakistan and MQM has always empowered the youth of Pakistan without any discrimination.

Talking about local bodies, he said that the bureaucratic administration is temporary and local bodies system will be enacted soon, while in the mean time they were finalizing the capacity of the new system and its applications.

Regarding allegations on the MQM, Sattar said that they have never bothered about them since it increased their popularity and they have always been proved innocent by the judiciary.

He added that parties will continue to blame them but they only gave importance to Jammat Islami’s (JI) allegations since if Munawar Hassan said something against the MQM, it should be addressed as the former has a vote back in Karachi compared to other parties.

“We have completed the road map for administration in Sindh and we have no differences with the PPP. We welcome all parties of Pakistan to provide any proof against MQM or Altaf Hussain. Pakistan's economic progress is inevitable in the coalition of PPP and MQM and it will provide financial relief to people of the Pakistan, particularly the poor.

Sattar said that they were attending Hashmi’s daughter’s wedding since he had always given respect to the ideology of MQM.

By the way, South Africa and Turkey provide evidence that those politicians who want to cling to ancient urban formula are primitive and no help to the country. I urge readers to read up on the metropolitan municipality systems of Turkey and South Africa. EU accession dreams meant Turkey had to modernize local governance. While the ANC which came to power after being shunted to ghettos revealed that even they had a more modern sensibility and understood why cities needed modern structures. This sensibility is patently lacking in PPP and the Sindi nationalists (who are so clueless they do not even realize they are their own worst enemies), PMl-N and ANC.
