Chandni Chowk Flyover: Work to shift utility services starts on Monday

Construction to start after the shifting, alternate traffic routes made.

Work for shifting utility services, electricity, gas and water pipelines among others, from the proposed site of Chandi Chowk flyover would start from Monday. This was stated by Commissioner Rawalpindi Zahid Saeed on Friday.  


Presiding over a meeting held at Chandni Chowk site office, he informed that all the departments concerned have been given Rs19.5 million in this regard and as soon as the utility services of the departments were shifted the work on the project would be started. The meeting was attended among others by City Traffic Officer Ghulam Abbas Tarar, Project Director Rana Basharat and Tehsil Muncipal Officer Rawal Town Mian Muhammad Akram along with others.

The commissioner also gave special instructions to the officials of Rawal Town and said that encroachments from alternate routes and surroundings of the proposed site of the project should be removed so that the load of traffic could be controlled effectively. He directed the CTO to make efforts to control the traffic load in the adjoining areas and deploy maximum number of traffic wardens.

It was also decided that during the construction work, the dust would be controlled by sprinkling water in the surroundings at least three times a day.
