Working through Eid: Threat of heavy rains and flooding

The rainfall is expected from August 30 to September 3 in various parts of Sindh.

KARACHI: Sindh government’s irrigation department has set up an emergency cell due to the threat of heavy rains and possible flooding in the coastal areas of the province. The irrigation department cancelled Eid holidays for the field staff after the recent weather warning from the metrological department regarding heavy rainfall. The rainfall is expected from August 30 to September 3 in various parts of Sindh. All officers notified for special duty have been directed to report to the chief engineers. The irrigation staff of lower Sindh has been directed to take all possible precautionary measures to combat the flood situation during heavy rains.
