Roadside bomb kills 5 militants in South Waziristan

SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: A roadside bomb hit a militant vehicle in the South Waziristan tribal region on the Afghan border, killing five militants, intelligence officials in the region said.

The militants were operating under Maulvi Nazir, an influential militant leader, whose group is known for launching attacks in Afghanistan, and not in Pakistan.

Nine killed in Kurram clashes

Eight militants and one soldier were killed in a clash in the northwestern tribal region of Kurram where the army launched a military operation this month to clear militants from their strongholds, security officials said.
