Strike on, strike off

Employees of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) went on a strike on Sunday against the murder of president of Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) PIA employee union Amir Shah. The strike was later called off after a short protest that resulted in the delay of flights to Dubai, Manchester, London, Damam and Abu Dhabi.

In protest to the killing, PIA employees had abandoned their counters at the Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad airports which resulted in delays of local and international flights.

Rehman Malik orders joint investigation

Earlier Interior Minister Rehman Malik had ordered the formation of a joint investigation team to probe the murder of PPP affiliate and PIA employees union President, Amir Shah.

Amir Shah shot dead

Earlier on Saturday evening the president of Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) PIA employee union and his friend were killed in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

Initial reports had said that the president, 42-year-old Syed Ahmer Ali Shah aka Amir Shah, and his friend, Mairaj Khalid Jagirani, was killed when attackers on motorcycles opened fire at his white Toyota Corolla (ATB-661) near Kamran Chowrangi in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

Witnesses said that the men intercepted the car before shooting the Shah and Jagirani. The victims were taken to the nearest private hospital where they succumbed to their injuries. The police said Amir Shah had been shot eight times with a small pistol.

Why were PIA Executives seen amongst the protesting members of Peoples Unity. Remember Mr Amir Shah, God Bless His Soul, was never elected as the CBA head. Mr Faisal Raza Abidi and former MD Ijaz Haroon had created a new People Unity, while the old guard was side lined. Ask Raza Rabbani, he knows the facts. This was a unique strike supported by PIA's MD.

So what, Tomorrow every one will forget.... This is Pakistan where even foreigners can kill and go with out any issue.... Now in pakistan any one can kill and just run off by paying the authorities....

Note: For our brothers in Pakistan, i have a question; PIA is very expensive, even if we have to travel from any GCC country to Pakistan. PIA is expensive, and has the most pathetic service. Even then every year PIA is facing a huge loss why????
