MULTAN:

A man’s colleagues tortured him by injecting compressed air into his body with a pipe on Wednesday night.

According to police officials, Multan resident Imran, 23, was attacked by his colleagues Hassan, Sajjad and Asghar, while he was arranging shelves at a local textile factory on Wednesday evening. Imran said that the men tried to sodomize him and when he resisted they forced him to the ground and inserted a gas pipe and pumped air into him. Imran was brought to Nishtar Hospital on Wednesday night in critical condition and doctors feared he would not survive.

“He was bloated and we needed to inject him to release air pressure from his lungs,” said Nishtar Hospital attending Rahman Sajid.

Imran was still conscious when he was brought to Nishtar Hospital ward 9 and told reporters that the accused had tried to assault him before but he beat them off.

“This time they cornered me and attacked me,” he said. Hospital officials said that Imran was making a remarkable recovery. “Normally there is very little chance of the patient surviving such a thing and Imran began to bleed critically from his nose, eyes and ears because of the excess air but he is stable now,” Dr Rahman said.

Nishtar Hospital officials registered a case on Imran’s behalf and Civil Lines Police Station House Officer Jalal Sabtain has launched an inquiry into the matter.
