Induction: IGP welcomes new batch of ASPs

Policemen inducted as part of 37th special training programme.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari, welcomed the new batch of assistant superintendents of police, who were inducted as part of the 37th special training programme.


He outlined the desired code of conduct as well as expectations for the new batch that includes women. The IGP identified target killings and extortion as the biggest law and order challenges in Karachi, and added that the new batch would play their role in tackling it.

He also revealed that since the start of the year, 23 police personnel have lost their lives while performing their duties, while 43 of them have been injured. In the last five months, Sindh police killed 61 notorious criminals. We also arrested 2,353 bandits, while another 629 criminals were caught red-handed.

In the same period, 500 wanted criminals, 6,147 absconders and 13 illegal vendors were also arrested. A large quantity of arms and ammunitions was also seized from those arrested. The CCPO Karachi, DIG Headquarters, DIG Special branch and AIG logistics along with other senior officials also attended the ceremony held on Monday.

The IGP also revealed that they have taken out numerous criminals in rural Sindh. He said that bandits with head money from Rs300,000 to Rs2 million have been either killed or arrested from rural Sindh. He added that the police operations are ongoing in several areas of rural Sindh and the remaining criminals would be caught soon.
