Private institutes : Iqra University ranked as top private college

KARACHI:
Iqra University has been ranked number one among all private institutions in the province, according to the Charter Inspection and Evaluation Committee (CIEC).
The committee’s report was presented to Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad, who is also the patron of all private universities, on Wednesday.
The committee ranked the universities on the basis of stars – the best institutes received six stars and the worst got only three.
The report also mentioned that the number of private, higher education institutions has increased from 18 to 25.
The number of students enrolled at these institutions has increased from 25,000 to 28,000 while the number of faculty members has increased from 2,300 to 4,000. The number of professors with a PhD has doubled to 300.

All private universities are included in the criteria.
Criteria may be Faculty (Iqra has highest number of PhD’s in faculty), Research (Highest number of research publications among the business schools (refer ISI Thompson rating), infrastructure, student enrollment, etc.Recommend

It includes all universities of Sindh. More info is on HEC website. Actually Iqra University has maximum number of permanent Ph.d faculty and their research work is more than other universities.Recommend
to me its like to remain in a fool’s paradise..just having PDd’s doesent mean that you’re topping the list ..one knows in karachi that where does IBA stands..infact its alumni has proved that in the last decade..they are the leaders in business management education..Recommend

I Know that every one get admission there but it doesnt mean that every one passout from there. only those get the degree who have the potentials to do something and who are serious in their studies. To all the haters and lovers of Iqra just read carefully. I am also a student of Iqra University but the think is that we as nation love to criticize destructively not constructively second we open our mouth to comment on any situation or thing blindly, Alas. There should be no doubt in this truth & fact that LUMS and IBA are the icons of business education in Pakistan. They are considered the pioneer of business school of this country.Their selection criteria, faculty, curriculum, alumni and most important “their reputation and image in the eyes of corporate gurus, investors, entrepreneurs and Pakistani job market ” is still glittering.It is not impossible for Iqra to stand along with these pioneers, but it requires more efforts, dedication, time and passion for continues improvement. The selection criteria of Iqra is not up to the mark but they have very strict yet effective set of controls. They follow discipline and expect the same from students. IQRA CAN BEAT AND HAS BEATEN CBM AND SZABIST BUT AS FOR AS IBA IS CONCERNED , I WOULD SAY MORE TIME REQUIRE TO REACH THERE MORE IMPROVEMENT FROM A TO Z REQUIRE BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE. LAST THING THAT THE UNIVERSITY SHOULD BE KNOWN FOR ITS QUALITY GRADUATES NOT BY RANKING.Recommend

Iqra is famous for taking in just about anybody, all they need is money to get in so please stop with this farce and tribune should also practice responsible journalism and not promote rankings achieved through bribery. Btw Dr Akif one of the leading Phd faculty in Iqra has a purchased Phd degree from PhilipinesRecommend

Bhai, first you need to compete with universities like biztek, Maju and Paf kiet, then think about CBM and Szabist and if you raise you caliber that high which is definitely not possible then think about becoming number 1. Idiots, IU accepts students of IBA with full credit hours who are dropped from IBA due to low CGPA. See where you stand now. . And also look at the job market which is dominated by IBA.. You guys are no way near to meeting the standard of IBA. Cheers!!!!Recommend

I think its a good news, but I think IQRA got no reputation in other provinces. Graduates from NUST and some others are even getting much better response from the market although NUST is nowhere in business, NUST is an Engineering Univeristy. We can’t even talk about LUMS and IBA, but again its indeed a good news.Recommend
